Review: Sigh! I get to watch too many films do, and even less on the big screen. So after watching Despicable Me (the original) several times at home - and he loves to death, this film is a big disappointment for me and my girls in the cinema. It was hard for me to pinpoint exactly what was missing, but I think it's mainly the lack of clever dialogue, witty, and filled in the first film. There are many funny moments in the film, but they are primarily sight-gags and one-liners. And unfortunately, the space between these moments were just not that interesting. FYI, my daughters (10 and 7) are also underwhelmed - for my younger man asked to be available on DVD or iPad, so that he could play the few parts were actually taking nker liked.I sequence had great potential - especially in lucy character, but most of the potential was just wasted. The villain is portrayed with stereotypical caricature and very non-PC, and unlike the Vector (the villain from the first film), appears to be no motive. The evil plot was actually pretty scary rather than funny, and the characters seem to spend much time doing things that were just not that interesting, and say things that were just the funny. All not all, real let down for our trip a once-in-a-blue-moon to the cinema. |
