Review: HOMEFRONT: Four stars (out of five) Sylvester Stallone wrote and produced this action thriller (based on the novel by Chuck Logan). He was planning to star in the film, but instead gave the role to his friend (and current favorite action star) Jason Statham. Statham is his usual badass only in the final film and goes against none other than James Franco as the main bad movie! Cast also includes Winona Rider, Kate Bosvorth, Frank Grillo and Clancy Brown! It is a retired DEA agent, trying to escape a dangerous life of crime fighting by himself and his young daughter, starts in a small town. Problems again finds him in the form of small-time meth drug, which is looking to expand their business. The scenario is quite common, and action performances are first-rate. Definitely worth seeing for any fan or Statham action film junkie.Statham game DEA undercover agent named Phil Broker, which helps bust a gang of bikers who sent leader, Danny T (Chuck Zito) in prison. TS Danny's son was killed during a bust and Danny accuses Broker for it. Two years later, after the Phils wife died, he and his daughter Maddy (Izabela Vidovic) moves to a small town to retire and live a peaceful life. When Medi defend himself against a bully at school, and shame him, Mom Bullis (Bosvorth), asks his brother met dealing Gator (Franco) to intimidate broker. Gator soon discovers that it is actually a broker in the process of tinkering with it, and decide to use the information they find to help expand their business. Broker of course have to win a lot of bad to be out of trouble once again.I miss these action films in the style of the 80s, the kind that Stallone and Schwarzenegger used to star in When you guys use to make a film that was doing and made a lot of money. Now the most popular action star in Hollywood (Statham) I can not open a movie like this for 10 million dollars! It is a pity that most viewers would have preferred to see a nice fake dude CGI-ed in the role of an action hero than watching the real thing (and Statham is definitely the real thing). If you want an action movie Kick-Ass 80s-style truth is that this is a film for you and Statham definitely delivers the goods (again). Franco is also a pleasure to watch as the despicable villain meth trading and its diverse career (with him to do a different role in each film) holding more and more impressive. Ryder, Bosworth and all the others are good in the film as well. Everyones highlights in it (at least the main actors are). Gary Fleder (who also directed the thriller as Runaway Juri, collector of words and things to do in Denver when you're dead) did a great job directing the film and definitely delivered everything I expected from him.
